About this guide
Utah's unemployment claims are decided by the Unemployment Insurance Division inside the Department of Workforce Services. This guide is not part of it, and nothing written here reaches a claim.
What each page covers
One page, one question, then the official page where you act on the answer: filing a claim, who qualifies, what a week pays, how many weeks it lasts, the weekly claim and its job contacts, appeals and overpayments, tax on benefits, which line to call, looking for work, and where disability payments in Utah come from. Questions and answers holds the ones that sit across more than one page.
How it is kept
Every figure, deadline, and phone number on these pages, and every link to a government page, is read off the Department's own claimant guide, its appeals pamphlet, its current benefit schedule, its guide for laid-off workers, and the Utah statutes and rules underneath them. Each page carries, at its foot, the date its figures were last read against those documents. Where the Department's own publications disagree, as they do on whether a claim can be filed by phone, the pages give both routes and say which document says what.
What it cannot do
Nobody here can look at your claim, change it, reopen it, or decide whether you qualify, and none of this is legal advice. The Division decides a claim and an Administrative Law Judge hears an appeal against that decision, both of them from your own record. For your own claim, Live Chat inside your "my Unemployment" account and the Claims Assistance and Re-Employment Team are the way in. Contact has those routes, offices and phone numbers has every line with what it covers, and the deadline that decides an appeal is on denials, appeals, and overpayments.
